I moved to Alaska in 2011 and made Sitka my home in 2020, though I grew up in Minneapolis. My husband and I have spent time advocating for early education resources in our community, and in 2025 I was elected to the Sitka School Board. We currently have three kids at Xoots Elementary, with a fourth who will join them in a few years.

Professionally, after finishing my PhD, I started a 15-year journey with the federal government as a Wildlife Biologist, Statistician, and most recently a Senior Data Scientist with the USDA. That background shapes how I serve on the board: I'm a strong advocate for education funding and efficiency, and I believe good data should inform the policy and budget decisions that affect our schools. I try to bring both common sense and compassion to every issue.

I see the board's role as supporting and advocating for our students, staff, and teachers. Every child deserves to feel safe and heard, and to have the resources they need to thrive. As a foster parent and the parent of a child with special needs, I've seen firsthand that success doesn't look the same for every student—which is why finding creative, individualized solutions matters so much to me.

I'm honored to serve on the Sitka School Board and look forward to continuing this work to improve outcomes and opportunities for all our students.
