In the spring of 2021, Interim Superintendent John Holst guided the district through the process of developing a new Strategic Plan. Using a systematic approach, the 2021 Strategic Plan addresses the main issues currently facing the Sitka School District. By focusing on the Mission and Beliefs identified through the process, the Strategic Planning Team developed six strategies that will allow for clear implementation towards reaching the District’s goals.

The Six Strategies are as follows:

1. We will Identify strategies to close learning gaps.

2. We will Strengthen culturally responsive programing.

3. We will Expand and strengthen partnerships.

4. We will produce a Professional Development/Mentorship/lnduction program for SSD staff.

5. We will develop an internal and external District communication plan.

6. We will expand opportunities and remove participation barriers for students.
