Our TeacherMs. Marlie Loomis
Here is a little bit about me. I grew up in Elfin Cove, Alaska in a commercial fishing family. I attended Mt. Edgecumbe High School and Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon. During my school years, I spent my summers working at sports fishing lodges, commercial salmon trolling, and working at my families commercial oyster farm. After graduating from college I moved back to Alaska and met my future husband.
In 2004, accepted my first teaching job in Ketchikan, where I taught Kindergarten and First Grade for two years. My hubby and I decided to move back to Sitka. I spent a year substitute teaching in the Sitka School District. I was hired to teach Kindergarten, which I taught for two years. Then I looped with my class to First Grade and have been teaching First for the last 5 years. My husband is a commercial fisherman and also does sports fishing charters. We have an 18 month old son who loves to fish already. We also have a black lab named Sako.
